Air McNair calls it quits
After 13 seasons, Steve McNair has decided to retire.
McNair was a rare player. He played hurt. He lead his team to within a foot of a Superbowl Championship. He won an MVP. He made professional football relevant in Tennessee after the Oilers moved there.
With all of that, is he a Hall of Famer? Maybe. The MVP trophy and leading his team to a Superbowl are in his favor. But the fact that he never won a championship, missed a lot of games due to injuries and wasn’t a statistically awesome QB like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady may hurt him. And in my opinion, the fact that he hung on for 2 seasons too long may hurt him. In the end, I don’t think McNair will be a HOF’er. He’ll be remembered as one of the really good QB’s, but never a HOF QB.
Best of luck to Air McNair.
